What’s wrong with Matthew Broderick? Always good.

Decent weekend on the films in bed frontline:

Host - yep, good

An American Werewolf in London - first time in about 25 years. Still loved it, but has such odd pacing compared to modern films, but I like that. And Jenny Agutter; bloody hell.

Shape of Water - Like all Oscar winners it’s a bit 7/10, but yeah, alright to good.

Prevenge - Liked but a bit too grim to be fun like Sightseers.

Vivarium - Watchable if on-the-nose one trick sci-fi satire saved by decent turns from the leads.

Recently watched:

Villains - A comedy horror apparently where a young couple on the run break into the wrong house. Started off with a few good jokes. There wasn’t too much horror either. Kyra Sedgwick was pretty good in it. A short 90 minute film and plods along ok enough but nothing too good. 6/10.

Central Intelligence - The Rock and Kevin Hart have fun in a comedy spy action film. Watched it after two long days at work and was a pretty good no brainer. You got what you expected. Had a brilliant bunch of comedy actors that just had minor cameos not even support roles, they included Melissa McCarthy, Jason Bateman and Kumail Nanjiani. I presume it was just a vehicle for The Rock but they’d opted for an ensemble cast like that and a slighter better script they could have made it a brilliant film. Nonetheless it was pretty good with a drink. 7.5/10.

M.F.A. - On Shudder. An art student is a rape survivor and learns there’s little she can do to bring him to justice. She accidentally kills him when she later confronts him and then turns vigilante and seeks similar cases where the campus rapists are free and their victims aren’t believed. She tries to rights those wrongs. Good revenge thriller. 7/10.

Watched Harley Quinn birds of prey last night

Yesterday I watched

Black Narcissus - my god that’s an amazing looking film. Incredible colours. Might watch it again before I send it back (it’s on iplayer too)

My Bloody Valentine - not very good, but one of the mining teens looks like the guy who plays Kemper in Mindhunter, including the tache

High Life: bleak yet beautiful.

It’s not him really, it’s just the (admittedly very few) films I have seen him in I haven’t really enjoyed.

watched rams last night - it was much more entertaining than i was expecting, for what is basically a 2 hour film about two old guys arguing about sheep

Is that about two old Icelandic brothers that have a long running feud?

Its been remade with Sam Neill

Didn’t realise there was a remake.

Remember a great time watching Rams at The ICA on an afternoon off.

aye it’s the remake, i haven’t seen the original

watched that greenland over the weekend as well. thought it was pish but relatively entertaining pish.
found myself laughing often at Butler’s accent throughout, where the fuck is that accent supposed to come from?! :joy:

I thought he was surprisingly decent though, accent aside. Usually find him rather smarmy but thought he played an every man quite well

I’ve got a bit of time for Gerry. Aye he’s somehow managed to bullshit his way to a career, fair play butler. :grinning:

Heard on another podcast that ol’ Kermode watched it 3 times last week!?

‘The Vanishing’ which has GB in it is very good though it probably helps he’s Scottish in it. Also has Peter Mullan who is always good value.

blimey, it’s good but I don’t think it’s 3 times in a week worthy!
