Chapter 9:

Hell House fight. Even if the ending is a bit shit (I don’t know yet, but reports certainly suggest it’s a possibility), this game is a GIFT

why is there a colosseum in don corneo’s mansion? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Quite enjoyed the recreation of Wall Market but these were definitely the weakest side-quests yet: there was that one where they seemed to be trying to get the references to the original Wall Market in (the clothes shop owner) while doing something involving Materia that was frankly incomprehensible tbh, and then I had to go to the colosseum again for some reason because Chocobo Sam told me to. It’s kind of a shame because the original works all of these areas into the main game, so it’s a bit weird that it’s all still there but sidelined to some random side-quest. That said, there’s some really fun stuff I’ve enjoyed – never would have thought I’d be praising the writing / acting in a FF game, but there are some really, really nice and charming moments throughout this game. One I quite liked was Cloud walking into the pharmacy and seeing Johnny overexcitedly telling a clearly irked pharmacist that you just “fought a house”. I chuckled, mate.

Just about to get to the Cloud dressing as a lady bit, and it’s the story progressing-y bits I’m ofc most looking forward to. Not sure what to expect from the Train Graveyard: atmospherically it’s one of my favourite areas in the game, buuuuut I can already see the really boring train moving puzzles in my head. Fuck the robot arms from earlier.

I love how into it he quickly became

The gf now indifferent about playing this so yeah, this is available for 35 + p n p

that whole bit ends really sweetly I thought

I really like that she’s more accurate to how she is in these bits of the game (and, iirc, that Japanese translation analysis from Kotaku talked about her being more like that in the original) than the weird idealised way she is in - I think - like Advent Children and that

Is chapter 11 a sneaky ffvi remake?

Finally got a few hours to have a go on this over the past couple of days.

Now, maybe the shine will wear off as it goes along and some of these story beats people have complained about (I’ve been studiously avoiding spoilers) will annoy me when I get to them. But right now… I’m in Midgar.

I mean really, actually in there. And oh my little 15 year old heart is just bursting with joy. :sob:

Been trundling about the slums and just keep stopping to look around and stare up at the plates in awe. I don’t care if it all goes to shit. Just these first few hours have made it worth it to me.

Finished this today. Really enjoyed it overall, some of the dungeons were not great and the side quests were why, but overall the battle system and character stuff really made me enjoy it.

End game spoilers

I am actually into the ending, even if it could of been less anime about it haha. I am more excited that they are going to change stuff up, I am more interested in this reimagining angle, and that final text about the journey ahead got me pumped up. Can see why people don’t like it though, it’s wasn’t amazingly subtle about it in actually fighting destiny itself.

Chapter 12

plate drop was incredible but imagine playing this with no knowledge of the original and wondering why an inappropriately hilarious looking Cait Sith randomly appears to do a bit of despairing

I laughed at them presenting that with no context at all.
