I feel like Christine is almost a great film, I’m a Carpenter fanatic musically but - blasphemous as this might be - he could be a bit sloppy as a director at times, especially after his initial late-70’s run. There’s a few extremely sloppy moments in Christine - including the part where a laughably obvious dummy is used, and maybe I’m being a bit miserable but it brings the film down a bit. Really love the atmosphere of it though, some amazing shots of the car in action, and the use of old-time-rock music is done really, really well - especially at the start of Moochie’s death scene.
Points also deducted for Stanton’s character just sort of being pointless.
