Toy Story 2
A Serious Man
There Will Be Blood
Manchester by the Sea
Mullan is utterly brilliant in Tyrannosaur. And Olivia Coleman is not too far behind him
I think these are some of the greatest films of the last twenty years. A lot maybe fall inbetween great film and masterpiece.
I’d literally fight until the death to defend Moonlight and Milk of those.
City of God
Lost in Translation
The Dark Knight
World’s Greatest Dad
Bridge of Spies
Manchester By The Sea
If Beale Street Could Talk
Synecdoche, New York
The social network
Catch me if you can
Don’t know if I’d call it a masterpiece by I can’t think of a better ‘comedy’ than Four Lions.
A Prophet’s a great, great film, 100%.
Best modern prison film by far.
I reckon I might bump Uncut Gems, Whiplash and The Irishman up to “masterpiece” status at some point.
OJ: Made in America for sure.
The Pianist is a really good shout. Must watch that again.
Hello Eric. Did you not like the film, The Irishman?
I liked it quite a lot (for all its faults)
I found it to be very moving
You mean in the last 5 seconds when his daughter was like ‘you’re a shit dad m8’
Mainly I found it very moving to see a life elapse into nothing but regret through a combination of inertia and subservience
El Secreto De Sus Ojos
Think we’ve spoke about this before, but Michelle Williams, fuck. Absolute all-time actor for me. That scene outside the shop in Manchester By The Sea ruins me. She kills me in virtually every film she’s in.
And Moonlight, christ. I’d struggle to put into words how great and important a film i think that is. Sat there for ages after the credits in complete silence. Definitive masterpiece.
