I loved it. Watched it on a day off sick years ago… Had it from lovefilm on DVD and didn’t get roundto it for ages because it’s bloody long. Quite want to re-watch it, but couldn’t find it streaming anywhere last time I checked.

Oh bloody hell, just checked the length. Won’t be seeking out today!

I agree on Parasite too. I think it’s good but the almost universal praise did surprise me, I didn’t think it was particularly original or there was anything in there which was amazing. But it hopefully will get a lot of people interested in world cinema and stepping outside of what they’d usually watch so that’s good

The definition of the word ‘masterpiece’ is being diluted a lot in this thread. Many great films but few masterpieces.

However, Call Me By Your Name fits the definition perfectly.

Oh that Susperia remake was great as well

Srs though I reckon in a decade or so Robert Eggers will be considered up there with the GOATs

This.

Found Paterson disappointing tbh. The scene with the Japanese tourist was good though.

In my opinion the interesting picks in this thread are the ones that people viscerally respond to either positively or negatively

Gomorrah was great. Did you watch the series?

Son of Saul
Good Time
Timecrimes
Whiplash
Leviathan
Moonlight
Loveless
Spiderverse (for the level of craftsmanship alone)
Amores Perros

Son of Babylon (underrated film set in Iraq)

Castaway came out in 2000, that’s already a classic isn’t it

Yup

Be funny if Bugduv votes in this poll and only votes for some

why has no one seen World’s Greatest Dad? Thought that was really well thought of on here

It’s the king of the ‘Poster Makes It Look Shit But It’s Well Good’ sub-genre

I have seen it
