My Dad’s largely harmless on twitter, it’s mostly Viz humour. This was the last thing he posted.

Actually laughed out loud. Shit.

Get following him then! You’d be number 47

Just read it. There are a couple of stats sandwiched between a whole load of sexist, ageist, poorly-executed “humour”. Hark at them, calling out mums for shitposting. And hark at you for defending Vice.

My old man’s gotten stuck right in with BTL commenting. Gotta do something in retirement I suppose.

Problem is his views on most things are thoughtful and erudite so there’s not much fan to be had there. Is Centrist Grandad a thing?

(He’s not a Grandad yet but he is very Centrist)

Vice posts some decent stuff.

Since my mum retired she’s been spending a lot of time arguing with Corbyn and Trump supporters in the comments of Guardian and Telegraph Facebook posts, but the other day I saw she’d been commenting on an article from a Paraguayan newspaper about two women who had crossed the border to Argentina to get married and she was giving this homophobe a right telling off, made my heart swell

My mum tweets about the archers and retweets pro Corbyn stuff

My dad is a centrist Dad and criticises Corbyn, he also posts pics of old Spurs stuff eg on this day Jimmy Greaves scored a hattrick against Coventry!

Despite my dad’s sometimes awful views IRL he’s actually quite adorable on Twitter. A grand total of 30 tweets, the most recent of which was “RIP, One of the great rockers!” on an RT about Rick Parfitt’s death, and 2nd most recent was “Urinated on your hand… that’s my boy!” when I tweeted about making Spice watch GBBO with me and him weeing on me as a thank you present. And his bio is so basic and old man-y that it’s really endearing.

I unfriended my parents and step family on facebook because the casual racism and general other isms was dragging me down. Don’t need to voluntarily subject myself to that shit ta.

pretty sure my mum has never used any piece of technology capable of using the internet so not a problem for me.

My dad uses Facebook to make deep theological insights into things, and to make slightly crap jokes on global posts. He could be a lot worse, really.

Yeah, my mum hasn’t worked out how to do a full stop whilst texting yet and I don’t think my dad has even touched a mobile phone in his life.

It’s a comment on the same article I posted ages ago mate. You’ve properly gone full marckee here :grinning:

genuinely enjoyed reading this thread. sorry about your discovery.

my dad’s not tech savvy enough to use social media, but he did ring me a while ago asking how to get that West Yorkshire Police browser lock thing off the screen in a panic. I obviously knew what kind of sites he’d been on, but I still asked him anyway “err don’t know”

thing is, I guarantee he’d of paid the £100 they were asking for before he phoned me. I often wonder how much they actually fleeced him for.

Yes, I am aware of that.
