could be good!

I am a strategy idiot so it’s brilliant for me.

Ironman xcom players may find themselves getting bored though I reckon.

Hard mode with perma is meant to be fairly challenging but yeah this doesnt seem musch like a game you play for the strats at all

Might try it on my #teamdmitri playthrough but otoh I might just want to get to the juicy story reveals.

You can step the difficulty up or down mid-game, right?

Combat advice please!

Did my first day’s exploration. Fished, ate, chatted. All good. Then came the mock battle. Tried my original “stand next to the opponents and hit them” strategy and got my bum handed to me. Yes I have it on the easiest settings but I have zero experience with this sort of game.

What should I be doing?

Press ZL to see what the range of enemies is. You want to (mostly) line up your people on the edge of those areas so the enemy can’t attack you on their turn but you can attack and kill them on your turn.

Keep ranged attackers and magic users far away at the back and lead with stabby people.

Choose your attacks/weapons/abilities so they have a good chance of hitting and preferably will remove all of the enemy’s health in one turn, so they can’t attack back.

Stuff like that?

If you press zr, the squares change colour and it shows you where is safe to move to.

Red is too far, you can’t move there.

Blue is safe.

Purple(think there are 2 shades, light and dark) - if you move here, you are in range of an enemy and can be attacked (red arrows show where they will attack from).

when you go to move a piece if they’re going the be attacked next turn you’ll see a lil red arcing line going onto your unit. If you dont want them to duel then dont move them there. If you’re certain they’ll come up on top put them there and get a free kill during there turn.

Thanks both!

What setting should I play on? Please bear in mind I’m a real gamer

Play on hard mode so I can see you cry in here when you permanently lose a character.

is anyone actually doing that? sounds like a nightmare

Maybe next time. It’s a bit easy on the other setting.

Maybe if you have the first idea what you’re doing it is!

Would like to practise but my daughter saw me playing, thought it looked fun and has been on the switch all afternoon. :expressionless:

so read a few articles and there’s two difficulty settings - Easy vs Hard - which you can only change from Hard to Easy midgame, not the other way around - and that deals with combat difficulty and then there’s Classic vs Casual - which deals with whether or not there’s permadeath, and that can’t be changed midgame

so you could make the combat difficult but still not have permadeath, or vice versa

dunno why I’m reading all this, no intention to buy this game for at least another six months

My daughter is better at the combat than I am. I’m currently watching her and learning.

Help

  • Play more Fire Emblem
  • You’ve played A LOT of Fire Emblem. Do something else like listen to music or another video game or perhaps watch a movie?
