First Christmas song heard in public 2024 audit

That is to say, a Christmas song heard in a public place that is not a Christmas event and was not played out of choice.

Merry Xmas Everybody, the Cambridge branch of a well known fast food chain (I wanted to get out of the rain), November 16th

Last Christmas, blasting out of a white van while I was waiting at the bus stop, East London, November 16th also.

Wizzard - I Wish it Could Be Christmas Every Day, Next, Aberdeen Branch, November 16th too.

(I see Mariah Carey was in the top 40 on the 15th Nov countdown - that must be a record)

Not heard one yet. Somehow. Matter of time.

I walked past a radio station doing an outside broadcast in town on Saturday and at one point they were doing some sort of game with listeners on the street that involved starting and stopping a Christmas song a lot. I’ve already forgotten what it was but it was annoying as fuck.

This might as a Christmas event as it was part of the build up to the light switch on I think

I definitely heard All I Want For Christmas in public recently and mentioned it to whoever I was with, but not sure where or when. Possibly in the hotel lobby last night?

The lady in the hospital waiting room warned me Christmas songs had been coming on today, but I didn’t hear any myself. Usually I’m blasting Sufjan and Mariah by now but it still feels like early November to me.

Heard Farytale of New York in the Olde Apple Tree, Peckham yesterday but in their defence they already had decorations up

I also noted this on their jukebox

Alright, Remi Wolf

Just heard my first one yesterday, in a sporting goods shop. Don’t remember what it was, blocked it out as soon as I could. I shall now exit this thread.
