I think the only thing that would get me proper pumped this year would be either Grandaddy, Modest Mouse, or a curveball like Fiona Apple or Liz Phair.

OK, following the Green Man announcement, I need to change this. Still reckon Feist and King Gizzard, but the third headliner is alluding me now. Could be Ezra and it wouldn’t surprise me if it is, but I dunno. Still hope it’s The Decemberists

Good lord that Green Man announcement is underwhelming. Exactly the sort of thing I was worried EOTR might come out with, dunno whether to feel slightly relieved at dodging the bullet or concerned that it’s going to be similarly meh.

Genuinely annoyed that Green Man have got John Grant. I shouldn’t be, cause I can just go to that festival. Less bothered about FF, Grizzly Bear and War on Drugs…but EOTR needs to be good to top it

…there’s a big crossover though between their mid range acts and recent EOTRs…that’s enough to dissuade me:

Lemon Twigs, Kevin Morby, Teleman, Baxter Dury, Alex Cameron, Bo Ningen, Courtney Marie Andrews, Curtis Harding, Goat Girl, Xylouris White, Omni, Duds, Ider

It’s proper naff. Glad I can’t go this year now. Obviously there’s more to be announced, but that is yawn inducingly dull for a first announcement

Yeah, I wasn’t sure where I was with John Grant. Part of me would have been disappointed if he’d been announced for EOTR, having already seen him a number of times. But I spun Pale Green Ghosts for the first time in ages yesterday, and I realised that I would actually be perfectly happy.

I think that’s where I’m at with Ezra if he were to be announced. EOTR introduced me to him, and I’ve seen him a fair few times since, so if he were to play again it wouldn’t excite me. But then I’d probably rock up at his set and have a great time.

I see Green Man have Grizzly Bear, John Grant, Fleet Foxes and War on Drugs. This is good news for EotR as presumably they wont have any of them.

You take that back

not really dug FF since the first album. but i ADORED it back then.

Here’s hoping EOTR pulls out something more interesting

edit: most interesting thing Green Man announced is The BJM

Green Man is very predictable and uninspired. Feels like I had seen that poster many times before.
EOTR can only be better!

I really like that Green Man line up. Good stuff all the way down and usually gets so much better with the further announcements. Seems a lot better than last year!

Probably prefer it slightly as a festival to EOTR. And can’t see EOTR being loads better.

I saw Cat Power added to the APE national day, potential headliner?

I can see Phoebe Bridgers doing the double.

She headlined the Garden Stage a couple of years back, doubt she’ll be back so soon.

Aside from John Grant…Fleet Foxes, Grizzly Bear and The War on Drugs all have poor live reputations. 50% of the rest of the bill has been at a recent EOTR…so it’s not for me

Also, the vast majority of acts announced released an album in 2017…part of the excitement in a line up is hearing new stuff between now and the actual festival date

Well I can well understand if you don’t like War on Drugs but I don’t think they have a “poor live reputation”. I like them and they’re great live (for the first hour or so anyway)
