How are you going to judge quality of fish?

its meant to taste vinegary, salty, fried and savoury. if it was tradition to batter and fry a fish that had a lot of taste like salmon or trout, i’d fuck it off.

size, shape, batter quality (colour and consistency), cut through shot if possible

And let’s be honest… if your main from a chip shop hasn’t been battered, you’re doing chip shops very, very wrong.

Pukka pies are borderline acceptable for me, other brands are out, but it’s laelfy’s thread so :man_shrugging:

It’s just texture for the curry sauce to be poured over mate, delicious

But this is a fish and chip thread. I’m making a slight exception for other battered products but I will not go as far as pies, sorry.
