Florian Schneider of Kraftwerk

drake hotline bling meme would be a nicely layered fit here, given the song it sampled.

This one’s sitting on my shelf as well actually

That’s a very, very good book.

Avoid ‘Mars By 1980’ by the same author though, weirdly flimsy and lightweight in comparison.

Ah I was looking at that one yesterday. I’ll give it a miss then.

Sad news. A true man from the future.

This is a great read. Don’t think Ralf and Florian were very impressed when it came out. Some great stories from an ex member.

Ah, I saw that and was wondering if it was any good. Thanks

I enjoyed it, it’s probably the only book that will give real insight into what they were like / what they got up to. Obviously because Flur was there for the majority of their success in the 70’s and 80’s.

From one of the reviews: “Two entire chapters chronicle a dream Flur once had”

I do like books that give an insight into what they go up to, especially in cases where they’ve generally lead quite private lives. I’m interested in the musical side too though. Would like to know more about their musical progression from a technical and stylistic point of view. As an electronic engineer I find that pretty fascinating in them.

it was a great dream though

Just reading on amazon that the its the revised edition post law suits. You might want to find a second hand copy of the orginal pressing. Probably more interesting!!

definitely!

Caught Flur being interviewed live at Dublin’s Metropolis festival a few years ago - he was wonderfully catty

he’s toured here a couple of times in the last few years but haven’t got round to seeing him, not sure what kind of shows he does
