I was once on a flight where the charming, middle-aged, Floridan air hostess said to me and my cousin shortly after the safety demonstration, “It doesn’t matter. If this thing goes down, ain’t none of us gonna survive anyways.”

Was just talking about this with an ATD who’s a pilot.
Basically the old guys get the big long haul routes and fucking love them. Big salary, easy job. 4 pilots on board, only two of them on-duty at a time, even when you are working you’re flying across the ocean doing nothing for 90% of the time. Few days in a hotel then come home, and then you get loads of time off.

My friends Dad is a pilot, a captain no less. Every time we go on a flight he phones his Dad up after landing to discuss how it went and if the pilot was any good, and on one or two occasion has emailed the airline to complain using technical terminology.
