A Lucid Dream is really great, be interesting to see how fans of the first album great this.

Hated the debut but I’ll give this one a go. I think I just didn’t like the almost childish ‘is this too real for ya?’ And ‘I’m gonna be big’ shit

Production on this one suits them so much better. Unfortunately looks like another release that will be crushed by the weight of the PR bullshit accompanying it

been slightly sniffy about them before, but always did prefer their slower quieter songs. The run of the final 3 tracks on this is pretty fantastic, think No is already my fav of theirs

Was never that keen on “Big” think it’s probably the weakest track on Dogrel. Too Real has some great lyrics though and I always liked the intro.

It’s been said further up, but I’m going to say it again, the new album is incredibly similar to Whipping Boy’s Heartworm album.

Slowly, they stalk humanity with an Amazon Prime package of grief, war, and pestilence

hmm

Quite like this. Not a world changing album, there are a lot of bands making similar albums to this only receiving a fraction of the attention, but they sound a lot more natural here, they’ve sanded away the cringier elements of the debut a bit and focused on the gloomier bits which I always preferred.

Hated the first album so much I couldn’t even make it the whole way through once. This one sounds really good on first listen though.

First album was full of a wafer thin image and attitude they probably learned at BIMM, now they sound like they’re learning to just be themselves a bit more

This is surprisingly good.
More later.

speaking of which…

It’s a pretty great album to be fair, really like You Said and the last track.

Refreshing to see a good shift from the sound of a first album, really liking it.

Really loving this. Excited to give it a few more listens and have it properly settle in

Had a similar reaction to this as I did to the Strokes’ new album. Not overly impressed by the handful of singles released beforehand but upon hearing the full album, really like it.

Was going to complain that I can’t hear the Beach Boys and Gruff Rhys inspirations they’d hinted at, but I’ve just heard the penultimate song and there they are!

gonna listen on way home from work, excited!

Some good tracks on here, but way too much filler.

The sequencing is key here. By the time ‘A Hero’s Death’ comes around, after a couple of slower ones, it hits like a fucking sledgehammer. And, got to agree with that G******n review up there, the lyrics are brilliant

‘Don’t get stuck in the past
Say your favorite things at mass
Tell your mother that you love her
And go out of your way for others
Sit beneath a light that suits you
And look forward to a brighter future

Life ain’t always empty
Sink as far down as you can be pulled up
Happiness really ain’t all about luck
Let your demeanor be your deep down self
And don’t sacrifice your life for your health
When you speak, speak sincere
And believe me friend, everyone will hear

Life ain’t always empty

Bring your own two cents
Never borrow them from someone else
Buy yourself a flower every hundredth hour
Throw your hair down from your lonely tower
And if, and if
You find yourself in the family way
Give the kid more than what you got in your day

Life ain’t always empty

Never let a clock tell you what you got time for
It only goes around, goes around, goes around
Take your family name for your own great sins
'Cause each day is where it all begins

And
Don’t give up too quick
You only get one line, you better make it stick
If we give ourselves to every breath
Then we’re all in the running for a hero’s death

Life ain’t always empty
That was the year of the sneer now the real thing’s here‘

First album’s great.

One or two tracks verge on sounding a bit like The Twang, but you can just drink through those.
