Nah, I just find it really strange that kids who want to make a career out of music and go to a music college, are treated like they’re a manufactured band. It’s a really weird snobbery.

I dislike BIMM bands because of the music they make. It all seems robotic, like it’s been mashed through an algorithm to reproduce a particular genre. I’ve seen this happen with Barq before and the same with Zaska.

I’ve seen and played with plenty of musicians who’ve gone to music colleges in Ireland but BIMM has never produced someone who’s impressed me. That’s my problem with them, not that they’re a manufactured band.

Quite. Sometimes find it hard to understand what he says on stage when he is in a chatty mood- never a problem with the lyrics.

i think authenticity is a fair enough musical discussion point in much the same way people have long discussed Damon Albarn’s mockney accent. don’t know why this would be considered off limits as it’s fairly central to the music.

i don’t quite get how they’ve become so huge but fairly pleased to see them doing well and will try to catch them live if they ever play Belfast (weirdly i don’t think they’ve ever done a headline show up here but i may just have missed it - despite being quite tuned into ‘the scene’ for the most part they’re a band that very much snuck up on me towards the end of last year)

I’ve only listened to this album once but it sounded quite inauthentic. Almost like the Irish tourist board commissioned it. Jury’s out.
