Foo Fighters

I like This Is A Call best.

And All My Life, and In Your Honor.

They do good opening songs.

Some good opining so far in this thread!

Always thought of them as like a harder rock version of Coldplay - Handful of decent tunes, but generally they are to music what Wimbledon is to sport.

“Radio One’s Big Weekend. Are you ready to rawk?!”

Anyone claiming anything other than I’ll Stick Around as their favourite song needs a good talking to.

Quite looking forward to seeing them in Madrid this summer actually.
Dunno if they’ve had a decent tune in 10 years, but the first couple of albums were really good.

These are the good Foo Fighters songs.

There isn’t a single album without a bunch of beige grunge-rock songs on it but the bangers really do fucking BANG.

totally fine

List invalid because it doesn’t have Good Grief or Hey, Johnny Park! on it.

The first two albums are 100% perfect, there isn’t a second wasted and you can tell every single hit of the drums was carefully thought out. TNLTL is pretty much right up there with them and Wasting Light is really good too (White Limo especially).

The other albums are fine and certainly have their moments, but I think as time went on there were diminishing returns. I think he started relying a bit too much on screaming for the sake of screaming (compare it to the way he used screaming bits to elevate the songs on The Colour and the Shape - that was perfectly done and one of the best consistent uses of screaming on an album). And post TNLTL the production got a bit too artificial / processed / farty, for the lack of a better description.

more interesting than the Foo Fighters: this definition of ‘foo’

jargon. /foo/ A sample name for absolutely anything, especially programs and files (especially scratch files). First on the standard list of metasyntactic variables used in syntax examples. See also bar, baz, qux, quux, corge, grault, garply, waldo, fred, plugh, xyzzy, thud. The etymology of “foo” is obscure.

100% perfect!

Haha they are! I mean they’re not The Moon and Antarctica or OKComputer, but they’re not supposed to be - for what they’re meant to be they’re perfectly done. I think the success that the band has had with their lesser, more same-y output has tainted people’s opinions of those first two.

I will listen to these to determine if they are damning omissions or you are just wrong.

Just how true is all of this? Read it a few times on here but never seen it mentioned anywhere else.
