Funnily enough I just emptied my food bin after not opening it for about five days (haven’t really eaten in the flat much to need to use it). Anyway, I don’t know why but I looked, and there was a massive big sphere of white mould that looked just like candy floss inside. Then I got bin juice on my hands when I emptied it.

They biodegrade in the bin during the hot summer period if you leave them too long. I ended up taking it out daily and getting additional bags delivered.

If you’ve regularly got left over cereal, you might be

guys, Aldi sell the biodegradable bags for cheaps

i got one of their frying pans yesterday. On a related note, I think that I might now hold the record for carrying a frying pan the furthest distance ever, from hammersmith to richmond.

that’s 10p a bag.

i can get tesco resuable carrier bags for that kind of money.

Every house/ flat should have a food waste shute that goes straight out to an outside food bin, no bags or nastiness needed.

Have a caddy sized bin. Empty it twice a week and take the rubbish to the food bin outside. Use the Tesco biodegradable bags. Never have any real problem with it. Sometimes you get split/leakage or whatever but you just clean your bin out and crack on.

Co-op’s carrier bags are now biodegradable (at least in my local one) so you can just get a bag from there and stick it in your food waste bin. They work nicely.

When I lived in Hackney still, the bags were provided by the council. Here we don’t have food bins and bags. I just have to put stuff in carrier bags and taken them out to the bin downstairs. My food waste is very low, though.

went to have a look at these frying pans

now where would they be? kitchen utensils? nope. heat & fire tools? nope. sink side?? nope.

would smell pretty fantastic after about 10 minutes

Nope obviously it would be high tech engineered to all be sealed and no smells would get out. I’ll give Elon a call he’ll invent it.

dunno, they were in tk maxx, the tv said that they make those wanky bins so hopefully the pan will be decent too

Can you not just chuck any leftover food out of the window for the birds, squirrels, foxes, cats, etc?

Really tempted to get one of those £60 Joseph Joseph ones with the replaceable charcoal filter in the lid.

I do have a birthday coming up, actually.

Think there might be an animal you’re forgetting about there.
