Food "staples"

What flavour cordial?

Oh like loads of cheap fizzy water

Seriously puts my squash game on fleek, fam

Made quite a big life change recently. Was a blackcurrant man for years but now rocking bitter lemon. If i go to Mozzers, though, i’ll get the peach barley.

Chicken
Veg

Frozen peas
Fancy oven chips
Mature cheddar cheese
Baking potatoes
Bacon
Squash (Apple and blackcurrant or orange, lemon and pineapple)

Little gem lettuces
Cherry tomatoes
Lager

Black beans, puy lentils, wotsits, a load of other stuff that has been mentioned or will be mentioned.

I don’t think that fresh fruit or veg can be considered a staple. Discuss.

If I opened the upstairs fridge, I’d be DEVASTATED not to find:

  • Milk
  • Port Salut
  • “Butter” Spread
  • Strawberry Jam
  • Kronenbourg
  • Orange Juice
  • and Malt Loaf, Krackerwheat, and some Bread sitting on top

Why not?

Too perishable too quickly. A staple should be something that can be relied upon to be used no matter how long it’s been sitting around in your cupboards/fridge.

Garlic
Tomatoes
Romaine Lettuce
Egg
Hard cheese
Soft Cheese
Herbs
Ginger Beer
Onions
Olive Oil
Pastas

I don’t actually have a cupboard in the house though.

What’s the big fella got?

Can guarantee there’s always Haribo Starmix somewhere in the house too.

Ah yeah “Big jar of Riesen - The Chocolate Chew” is also a staple for me

Gallons of olive oil probably. He loves a bit of olive oil.

Oh yeah. Should add Mustard and red/ww vinegar

you had milk in yours, milk goes bad relatively quickly. in fact i would argue that milk goes bad after opening quicker than a banana. onions and garlic are fresh but take ages to go off.

Just bought four avocadoes for £1.56 from Mozzers. Was paying £1.10 for one at Tesco. That’s about a £520 saving a year based on two a day.

Do they still do Riesens? Corr. Not spent an hour chewing one of them for years.
