Pop Tarts
Hot sausage rolls are rank, they’re soggy and disgusting. They need to be cold to retain any structural integrity. Quiche is 50/50, and better cold for the same reason.
On the other hand, eat croissants hot you animals.
Leftover pizza should absolutely be heated up. You have to be careful or it’ll burn, but put on a low heat for about 10 minutes and it’s as good as fresh.
the fuck’s a scotch pancake
Although I’ve only just this second realised that, throughout this thread, I was thinking of potato scones.
Same applies either way, though
scotch egg
Yeah, in the toaster. My Scottish mum would do that. You only do it lightly but it gives a nice crisp outer shell and then the butter goes melty.
i do this with all pancakes. had several tonight.
You regularly reheat pancakes?
well they’re cold when i buy them
still not sure what the difference is between scotch pancakes and normal pancakes
‘Normal’ pancakes are the very thin crepe ones IMO. I guess I never thought of buying those because I would consider them to be pretty grim cold without any toppings and the only way I can imagine reheating them is in a frying pan…so you may as well just buy a mix and make them fresh.
Whereas you can just eat those scotch pancakes straight from the packet if you’re hungry and want a quick snack.
oh, so all the pancakes i buy are scotch pancakes?
interesting.
Oh not necessarily. It’s probably fairly contentious. I think of scotch pancakes as a variation on your standard American style fluffy pancakes. They’re also called ‘drop scones’. They’re generally smaller.
recently discovered that the samosas you buy in a pack from a supermarket are meant to go in the oven and are better for it. i ate them as is for years…but that’s largely due to a lack of an oven when i’ve just come out of a shop
My fiancée does this - delays dinner every time for about 2 minutes while we wait for plates to warm up as I always forget to do it and she comes in and makes me. Then it’s too hot to put on my lap if we eat it on the couch. Does my head in.
Imagine buying pancake mix, might as well buy pre-grated cheese or pre-mashed potato.
Well mate if I was desperate for pancakes on the way home from the pub I’d trust myself with that more than the whole caboodle and in my single says I would never have had eggs or flour at home
Mashed potato that you can microwave for a couple of minutes is understandable - it is quite a bit of time and effort to make mash (and mash definitely isn’t worth that amount of time and effort). Pre-grated cheese is silly though.
Take it to the Unfathomably Wrong Statements thread. If it exists. If it doesn’t, this is the perfect example to start one with.
