One thing i quite like about Chelsea is that they annoy people who think regularly sacking managers is automatically a negative. The game’s just moved on, and the big clubs are so tough and intense and draining to manage that a two year shelf life’s about the norm. Don’t particularly understand the “but, but…Fergie” line. Conte’s Chelsea have no less of an identity after one year than his United side did after twenty.
Chelsea are a genuine superpower now, and they’ve done it essentially by aping Real Madrid, particularly when it comes to hiring and firing and using the loan system to their advantage. It’s pretty insane how well ran they’ve become when for the first few years it didn’t look like they had much of a plan. They’re the elite club in the country, there’s absolutely no doubt about that.
