Weird innit, it’s like they want them to pretend the two teams are as good and the game’s as important as it would’ve been 15 years ago.

That was genuinely going to be the gist of my next post as well

so that counted? It looked like one of the PSG players picked the ball up before Verratti scored.

yeah because they kicked it out of play for a throw, which is taken while the camera is on matuidi

Yeah, save this sportsmanship stuff for rugby. They should be spitting in each other’s faces and chucking pizza at one another.

Just saw another angle that showed that. Proper shithouse refereeing, basically -
also, aren’t Matuidi and Draxler both interfering with play, one way or another?

They wouldn’t, they’d still be shite and their relative cost has no bearing whatsoever on the budget for luxury players, you don’t think we’d have baulked at Pogba for £95m because we paid £5m “too much” for someone else do you?

your players arent exactly shit either

It’s all relative innit.

Obviously a club will be able to find another £5m for a player if they need to, but that doesn’t change the fact that generally being sensible with signings (and also selling at the right price) and getting good value in the transfer market is a good thing that enables a team to use their budget in a better way

£12.50 for RVP
Nani for a packet of salt ‘n’ shake

I think that used to be the case but increasingly isn’t at the top level given the money available to top-flight English teams these days. We’re going to be seeing increasingly worse players going for increasingly higher fees to the extent where there can be no reasonable correlation between cost and expected performance.

Didier N’Dong cost £13600000

There’s also the ‘commercial’ aspect of what someone’s worth, particularly for clubs which are increasingly ‘brands’ like #MUFC

Aye, that “he’ll pay for himself in shirt sales” line is bollocks but it’s fairly clear that a massive part of the Pogba signing came down to his place as the post-Messi/Ronaldo biggest player on the planet role and all the riches that will come from that.

Tottenham must be raking in the South Korean money due to Son Heung-Min shirt sales*

*At least if FM is any good they are - that’s what happened when I signed him back in FM16

I think that’s still Jon Parkin

Saw a stat that Lucas has the same amount of assists as Pogba this season. That’s pretty damning. Lucas has played about 10 games, and is – in the grand scheme of things – pretty shit.

Arsenal Lucas or scouse Lucas?
