Didn’t even realise there was a PL game tonight :joy:

I keep forgetting that Kane is still only 23

Wonder if he can go 10 seasons or more hitting 20+ a season

Should take him past Shearer’s record

10 seasons of 20+ would be absolutely ludicrous, not impossible tho

barring a very bad injury or move abroad he’ll break it. Seems incredibly one-track minded and professional which should give him a bit more longevity than our Wayne.

had my first ever experience of being an older, condescending, ‘it was all better in my day’ moment of my life today. there’s a school work experience kid working in the office for a week, and he’s also an Arsenal fan. spent a good half hour today telling him how shit Arsenal are now compared to the early 00’s (i think he was born the year Arsenal won the league last.

felt really weird, but also…kind of good? I think I’m gonna really buy into the whole grumpy grandad with lunatic views on football role tbh.

Think these are fairly big ifs. Lots of players get injured, lots see their form drop off and if he can keep it up at a goal a game rate without injury, then one of the big continental squids is sure to come knocking. Think one of those things is more likely to happen than not tbh

Honestly think Kane could be a rare modern English player who cuts it abroad. You could stick him in, say, the current Bayern side, and like Lewandowski he’d score 3,000 a season.

I’m sure this new diving rule will be equally and fairly applied to my football club as to the other clubs in the Premier League.

probably injury is most likely

He’s been at Spurs since he was 16, they’re knocking on the door right at the top, breaking club records, soon moving into a brand new Stadium, seem to have a great club spirit, plenty of team mates around him in the England squad too - it’s a golden time there

form? can’t see too much of a drop off, He seems to rely more on his reading of the game & deadly eye for goal than pace or strength (which tend to drop off more severely). If anything, his form is more likely to improve over the next 3/4 seasons as he peaks physically around 27

of course, recurring small injuries can have a big effect on form & he’s played a fair few games at different levels since his teens so…

but If anything is gonna get in his way re: Shearer’s record it’ll most likely be 6 months out with a metatarsal or a cruciate he picks up in an England friendly against Malta or Jamaica or something stupid

kind of agree in theory, but yeah, injury. also who knows. he goes to a big squid, has a few bad games, gets benched, loses confidence. soon enough he can’t hit a barn door with a banjo. wouldn’t be the first time. pointless conjecture but all real possibilities that make speculating about him hitting shearer’s record a bit premature.

Fingers crossed their poor form at Wembley continues all of next season and we never have to talk about them ever again.

Assuming you’re an Arsenal fan because the emergence of Spurs as a proper force in an organic and good way has been the most refreshing thing to happen to the EPL for ages.

Also we’re the only country in the world where a really good player can emerge and people say “hope he gets found out as utter shit”.

Nah, that’s great pal. Bitterness is a big part of what makes football what it is.

Any of you lot got any grounds that you always forget the new version’s name of?

Inspired by me asking my Spurs supporting pal if he enjoyed his trip to Filbert Street last night

Wash your mouth out.

West Ham was always a tricky one. Try hards would incorrectly call Upton Park the ‘Boleyn Ground’, mispronouncing Boleyn in the process.

Can never remember whether its the dell or st marys either. both of the grounds are/were shit, which further complicates matters.

Now it’s happening with the London Stadium where everyone just calls it the Olympic Stadium or far less complimentary names.

Not quite the same, but always forget the name of the City Ground and just call it Trent Bridge instead. It’s close enough.

London Stadium is funnier though. I always call it the London Stadium.
