The precedent was set in 2006 with Ben Thatcher, no?

This page says in almost all cases (and mentions Thatcher specifically), so there is specifically some leeway and precedent for extraordinary cases.

I think let him keep playing but each week a different limb is replaced by a toffee.

While I think it was a red and should be a 3 match ban, I also don’t see the benefits of doing it retrospectively unless that’s what’s needed to address and admit the fuck up by the refs.

Probably improve him, as he might start catching things in his sticky arms

I fucking knew it was a Portsmouth game just couldn’t remember who the other team was.

There’s a difference between an actual assault and a clumsy 50-50 from a keeper though.

comparing this to the pickford incident is fucking wild imo.

Aye, much worse from Pickford

Amazing that the first two clips were of joey Barton and he didn’t do the assault

Nobody’s doing that though, which is good.

We’d gotten into Europe through the fair play award the year before and embarrassed ourselves so badly we clearly set out to make sure it couldn’t happen again.

Fucks sake. :joy::joy::joy:

This is reasonable, tbf.

They haven’t thought this through.

Mainly just find it mad that the VAR dweeb didn’t pick up on it at all, tbh.

Nice :sunglasses::sunglasses:

I don’t see the issue with giving a three-match ban now. He should’ve been sent off at the time and would’ve been out for three matches. The error’s incredibly clear to see now, so correct it. Easy.

(Watch him get dropped for Olsen anyway, rendering this all academic)
