Spain had the same situation with Raul. ‘Undroppable’ player for both club and country on a team that had consistently underperformed for its entire history. Aragones had the balls to stop picking him and the rest is history. Not saying that this current crop of England players are on the same level as the Spain team that emerged from that, but I think that the act of dropping Raul had an incredibly positive effect on the team mentally. Bizarre that a team that claims to be looking towards the future doesn’t have it in them to stop playing Rooney.
shame his name can’t be amalgamated with brent
pique thing’s quite funny isn’t it i’m done with all you dickheads, i’m retiring!..in two years
benteke scored after 7 seconds
Bentekkers
Payet is on that different level again
Lifelong Man United fan from Manchester appointed ref for Liverpool v Man United (again).
Excited for the Gazolution tonight. Slovenia won’t know what’s hit 'em.
But every Manc supports City?
Would have Sterling over Rashers and Mike Smalling over Keane I reckon
Sterling’s injured.
As is Aguero.
As is Sagna.
Bloody love the internationals.
imagine having Vardy in your preferred 11 over Sturridge. imagine!
Lingard over Rashers then, or Antonio
Most people simply want the team to be selected on form rather than reputation.
I can picture it now.
75 minutes of standard England/international football drudgery.
Rooney comes on off the bench and scores a winner in the last 10 minutes.
Cements his place in the team forever.
Jermaine Defoe’s the only English striker who’s started the season in a decent run of form
EDIT: also Troy Deeney
A third accidental assist in as many games would be great…i’ll go for a completely scuffed slow-motion bicycle kick which bobbles across the box for Rashford to volley home from a yard out to save English football and cement his place as the Best Young Player In The World.
Oh yeah, it won’t be a great - or even intentional - goal, but it’ll be enough for everyone to apologise for ever doubting his greatness
Yet Vardy’s scored as many goals as he and Sturridge combined…even if we’re for some reason saying that form absolutely has to stop and start with a new season,
Vardy’s scored 3 in 11, Defoe’s scored 4 in 6
