I have found it pleasing recently that players like Andre Gray, Robert Huth, Colin Kazim-Richards, Joey Barton, etc have all been punished for saying homophobic/ transphobic stuff, either online or on social media. Is this a fairly new trend for the FA to punish for these sorts of things?

Obviously it isn’t football making these people into arseholes but it’s certainly a place where normalised homophobia is made worse by machismo bullshit (‘man up’ -> ‘Don’t be a pussy’ -> ‘Don’t be a f*****t’). Also grassroots football is somewhere where you can make a point of saying that language like that is unacceptable, and have referees write up citations for players/teams who continue (which is exactly what would happen with racist language)

To a point but it’s also a fairly new trend for footballers to have platforms like this that are tougher for their clubs to police

OH RIGHT I was thinking “that’s a bit weird to have two cup games in a row”

That’s very commendable. But a lot of clubs already have thier own groups.

I’d guess the Zlatan to Galaxy talk is just standard Raiola contract bargaining, but honestly if he’s not 100% up for it then best move him on.

While he’s clearly been instrumental for us this season, he’s also looked knackered on several occassions. He only overcame that long goal drought after a big international break and he seems to need this elbow-time on the sidelines to pull himself together a bit.

As he clearly won’t play second fiddle to anyone else, we need to be careful how we play it with him if we don’t want it to bite us on the bum when/if he hits a wall.

Not even a case of his commitment tbh, he clearly gives everything on the pitch at least.

Non-Plussed whether he’s here or not next year though, it’s been amazing having him but there’s a definite case of the Van Nistelrooys where it’s him or nothing though and that’s not good.

Yeah don’t get me wrong, he clearly gives everything. I’m sure that due to his age he’s working harder than ever. And maybe that was phrased badly, as I very much doubt he’d continue if he didn’t believe he could continue to play at the same level. Though players have misjudged that before.

Thing is, it is only a temporary solution and the sooner we reach the end goal of finding a suitable replacement the better.

I think 12-noon is a really conservative prediction of the score.

Yeah I know I was on my way:

A shame but understandable now our season is over, whole club needs a clear out top to bottom tbh

Alan Irvine. Really?

He scored the first ever Palace goal I saw live but he’s a shocking manager.

Just realised Irvine is only the caretaker.

The Norwich job has Alan Pardews name all over it.

Worse still, there are plenty Norwich fans who seem to think this is a good idea…

Think I’d be properly done with Pardew, but I’ll be in Germany anyway so fuck it
