Fleetwood are a modern day Rushden and Diamonds. One man, zillions of £££s and little else.

aye I know, the TV’s dad is a Blackpool fan, must smart having your club run into the ground by a complete arsehole while the non-league lads up the road pay their way into the championship

Yeah, that has to properly chafe. Good luck to them (Fleetwood), I hope it doesn’t end like Rushden did.

Fylde as well.

Think there’s a bit more rivalry between Blackpool and Fleetwood, though. Lots of Blackpool fans have started watching Fylde. They seem like a really progressive club actually…but again heavily bankrolled.

I’m not 100% against it, on the proviso that the long-term future of the club is secured as much as possible, the history and heritage of it respected, and they don’t aggressively dismantle other clubs around the level. Sadly it’s rare these things all happen, and for every Fylde there are twenty grounds throughout the country that have been bulldozed after big dreams have gone bump.

It’s interesting that he_2 mentions Rushden. Saw photos only this morning of Nene Park being reduced to rubble.

Absolutely spot on, Boreham Wood are a really good example of a progressive club. Plenty of investment, but their youth structure and off-field structure is one of the best outside the football league. This means, despite pretty grubby crowds the playing side is sustained by off-field activities rather than one man’s money.

Will be interesting to see how Fylde go next season in the NL top flight.

As for Nene Park, a crying shame about the ground. We played there the season before I started watching us regularly in the FA Trophy and it was a ground that those that went had never seen before at that level.

What a beautiful way to end a glorious unbeaten run

AHHHHAHAHHAHHHHHAHAHAHHHHHHH!!!AHAHAHHHAHAHAHAH!!!AHAHAHAHHAHAHAH!!!

are you ok?

Anyway, stop changing the subject.

Sanchez better than [stifles giggles] Ozil.

Mmmpph-ha-ha-mm…sorry…

I’ll check in after the Watford game. Ciao!

I was under the impression Rushden had completely folded when Griggs left. Glad to see a phoenix club was formed and is doing relatively well - knocking on the door for promotion to level 7 and playing to 500ish fans a week.

They kept going for a year or two after Griggs left, but were woefully mismanaged by some names that have been involved with similar clusterfucks at the likes of Hornchurch and Weymouth. I think I’m right in saying that the former CEO ended up getting sent down for fraud of some sort (I’d best check this out).

The phoenix club are doing really well as you say - until the last day of the season our biggest gate of the season was hosting them in the FA Cup - they’re currently sharing at Wellingborough Town and can hopefully find their own ground again in or around the Rushden / Irthlingborough area and really push on. They were a really top set of fans.
