She also said she was ‘A Labour girl through and through’ once.

Just once.

it’s just an insane thing to say and i’m surprised she got a pass for it.

I don’t agree with the sentiment obviously but it’s less ‘she got a pass’ and more ‘who gives a shit’.

I guess she was what 20 when she got that bill? Tbf you don’t really know how tax works at that age and would prob be surprised you had to pay that much. Doesn’t excuse the gun comment though or maybe she’s an anarchist who doesn’t believe in sponsoring a corrupt state? No one knows.

is Ella really worthy of your Eyre?

At least she didn’t do a Barlow I suppose.

Since the Prehistoric ages and the days of ancient Greece
Right down through the Middle Ages
Planet earth kept going through changes
And then no renaissance came, and times continued to change
Nothing stayed the same, but there were always renegades
Like Chief Sitting Bull, Tom Paine
Dr. Martin Luther King, Kate Tempest
They were renegades of their time and age
The mighty renegades

don’t really know how tax works? if she paid £4m i assume she would’ve earned £4m, not exactly small change

google lyrics has completely done a number on me there

i do spoken word stuff, kinda tempted to record it and post it on DiS to see if all you haters think i’m better or worse than kate tempest

It’s mad how much more threatening you lot find someone if they happen to be a woman isn’t it.

Barlow’s just one man.

Adele’s comments could’ve turned a whole generation of fans into funneling profits into offshore holdings. We can’t be too careful.

Amy Winehouse and Adele - both shit.

Of course not. But I can imagine a 20 year old being all ‘I’ve got to pay half my income to the government?!’ I don’t think they done economics at the Brit school see. Maybe they should start a course on tax avoidance.

Sorry, hadn’t realised she benefited from formal artistic training. Presumably her art could only be authentic if she only received input from the school of hard knocks? Heaven forbid someone from a disadvantaged background should benefit from an educational institution.

say what you like about him, but he can really rap

well it matters here because it seems to be what her entire output is based around

Not sure that coming from a disadvantaged background and looking for support in building an artistic career are incompatible? Should she have been dealing crack instead?

You quoted this

"She says she had a “wayward youth”, living in squats, “hanging around on picket lines rapping at riot cops”

And yet none of the points you made in and of themselves render this quote automatically fraudulent. You’re just piecing together stuff you haven’t the foggiest about.

Anyway - hometime. Your more authentic artists at Reading etc. etc.
