oh yeah
Eye Contact came out in 2011!!!11
Nick Nicely. A kind of forgotten South London Brian Wilson that still sounds really modern. Thought it was a weird hoax when I first heard it.
I like that. I’m surprised I’d never heard of him before. Thanks for posting it.
No worries, he’s quite an interesting tale if you read up about him, and he has a few other songs in the same vein.
the b-side of that single isn’t bad either. I’m now going to be sitting here until five and then travelling home, all the time trying to figure out what this track reminds me of.
that picture at the end

I like this! Must explore Mr. Nicely’s work a little more. Love this site!
Also, looks like he has a new album coming out either 29 Sept or 6 Oct. Sleep Safari. Although the snippets on Soundcloud seem a little less psychedelic-y.
I guess you are home by now, but this is lovely and thanks for sharing. Quite Beatles-esque. A bit of Strawberry Fields in there, perhaps?
Yes, definitely late 1966 going into '67 period Beatles.
I only got interested because I live next to Hilly Fields (a park in Lewisham), apparently he lives locally and can be spotted there occasionally. There were rumours that Kate Bush was on the track because she also lived in Brockley, but apparently that’s an urban legend.
Another band that I think ought to be more well known is The Screamers. They were based in Los Angeles from 1977-81 but pretty much made only videos and no proper recordings.
Linda Perhacs possibly? Not so much now as she seems to be having a bit of a renaissance however she essentially went back to work as a dental technician for 30 years after it failed to garner much commercial success back in 1970.
yeah that’s a properly love album that
And she is another one of these “forgotten” musicians with a new album coming out. I’m A Harmony is due out this Friday. Going to be an interesting listen. Some terrific collaborators (including Julia Holter, who is also a fan apparently. Why am I not surprised.) Anyway, I have it lined up for a listen this Friday.
Natasha Bedingfield
Ms Dynamite
Cleopatra
Breed 77
Spineshank
Murderdolls
weirdly I remember Spineshank because of a documentary where a reporter wanted to go on tour with a current metal band, they seemed like good lads.
