I haven’t seen it. I see that Greta Gerwig is in it.

I’ll definitely tape it.

Highly recommend Salt Of The Earth, which is on Talking Pictures tonight @ 12:40am.

ā€œSalt Of The Earth, a powerful film shot on a threadbare budget, mostly with local non-actors, was branded as ā€œcommunist propagandaā€ at the time.ā€

If that doesn’t whet your appetite I don’t know what will.

Looks like it’s on youtube too for anyone hasn’t got freeview.

Middling week with not much I haven’t seen before. Might give the new Tomb Raider a go as i’ve heard it’s perfectly fine and I naturally gravitate to anything with Goggins. A Fish Called Wanda and The Ladykillers are 2 from the 1001+ Movies book I havent seen so they’re on my list. Also haven’t seen 24 Hour Party People in about 15 years so wouldn’t mind a re-watch.

FYI: The collection of Sony Movies channels have recently rebranded as ā€œGreat Moviesā€ā€¦

ā€˜Picnic At Hanging Rock’ is the big one for me here, been on my watchlist for years.

Wanted to see this for a long time! Result!

I really didn’t like it. I’m in the minority but it just didn’t work for me. Just found it very dull.

A fine example of the novel being way better than the film.

I thought it was shit

It had Mrs Mangle in it. That was it’s high point.

A modern classic that, for anyone who hasn’t watched it, needs to be viewed. Like its predecessor Embrace of the Serpent, the cinematography is just stunning, and, as a whole, is profoundly moving.

Love Ciro Guerra’s work.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (Great Movies)

Hardly anything unseen sticking out for me apart from Phantom Thread and A Taxi Driver. Don’t think the picture quality for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon on Great Movies will be good/nice enough - shame as i’ve never seen it before.

Raw is well worth a watch and Frances Ha + Mistress America is a nice little double bill on Thurs.

Transendance was laughably bad

It takes a few liberties with the truth, but A Taxi Driver is excellent, powerful stuff

Yeah very high up the ā€œhow can these great ingredients produce something this offā€ list.

Never heard of that channel. Is it notoriously low def?

Crouching Tiger is my all time NUMBER ONE FAVOURITE BEST FILM, you must see it. Everyone should

The Damned United is so, so good. Must’ve seen it six times or more, but it’s lovely. I know it was embellished a bit, but I just think Sheen plays the part to a tee and the relationships with Taylor, Revie and Longford are all brilliantly done.

More than that, it’s the ground scenes that I love most. They used Chesterfield’s old stadium, Saltergate, as the Baseball Ground, and it looks the part and just sort of feels really nostalgic.
