Yep - Twilight Sad, Toro Y Moi and James Blake for me. Obv enjoyed my first playthrough of TTS but particularly enjoying the new Toro. Wasn’t a big fan of Boo Boo - too downbeat and disinterested but new one sounds nice and lush and a bit closer to his earlier albums.

Update: Malibu Ken is great.

Not gonna bother with anything else new today. None of it stands a chance.

Twilight Sad, Malibu Ken and Buke & Gase for me.

Listened to Lost Under Heaven this morning. What an odd record they obviously were going for something but, I actually can’t point out what it is. Maybe there is too much pontificating too decipher?

There are some good tracks but, as with their last album the slower tracks are the best (The Great Longing & Here Our Moment Ends are still my favourite of theirs)

That Pedro The Lion LP is pretty lovely

The first song, Fading, is such a jam. Haven’t managed to get past it yet, just hitting repeat

I woke up excited for Deerhunter, but Twilight Sad has blown me away. Steve Gunn is really good too.

been listening to Twilight Sad all week for review, so James Blake and Deerhunter for me, Clive

It is isn’t it? Love a bit of Aesop. The last Hail Mary Mallon album was fantastic too.

Got this lined up for tonight

Sharon Van Etten’s album is brilliant- really immediate and engaging. Big fan of the dark, synthy ones.

Buke & Gase

Thanks…How strange - so it did. Totally passed me by and I count myself a fan. Really no idea how I missed that! Wasn’t on any end of year lists I saw and didn’t read a single review of it.

What a fucking week

Loving the sad and the Sharon albums. Not checked out deerhunter yet - last one was a bit forgettable.

SVE - wasn’t convinced on first listen - it didn’t grab me for whatever reason - but after a second spin I think it’s great. Like the darker, moodier moments which give it a bit more variation than the last album (even if on balance I think the last record probably was stronger)

Twilight Sad - I get the love for it but at the moment this isn’t quite clicking for me. Will revisit later this week

Pedro the Lion - a very pleasant surprise. Hadn’t heard anything of theirs before but stuck this on the headphones in the early hours when my little one was refusing to sleep and really loved it. Right up my street and will definitely have to explore their older stuff
