Really enjoying this, this morning.

The new Croatian Amor album is good:

What did you think of the Dandy’s album? As someone who drifts in and out of their stuff, is this worth drifting back in for?

What did you think of the new FIDLAR?

It’s easy to let this wash over you but I’ve had a couple more listens today and it really is a grower.

Same as you really, the new Fidlar is a bit all over the place, some great songs (the first one, even though it’s basically a cover So Watcha Want by Beastie Boys, Alcohol) and some I’m less keen on like By Myself and Flake which sounds like bloody Jet. Reminds me a lot of the last Parquet Courts in the way it changes genre almost every track but not as successfully. I’m not sure I’m going to give it any more time.

You listened to Alphabet 1968 by these guys? Was my choice in the Ambient/drone listening club.

Glad you’re enjoying AA Williams. It is an incredible EP. I’m listening to it pretty obsessively and hoping she’ll announce headline live dates soon. Just a few festivals at the moment, as far as I know.

Behold The Spirit and Deseret Canyon are even better!

@MelodiousThunk @mattthornton90 Great to share the greatness of the AA Williams record. Very obsessed with it now!
Remfry Dedman on Riot Act pod felt he could hear bits of OK Computer-era Radiohead in it. Bit surprised at first, but I think I get it. What do you reckon?

really liking this also, thanks!

Definitely agree with that, the last two tracks I’ve found myself thinking lucky/exit music. First couple put me more in mind of Marisa Nadler and Weyes Blood. Whatever you think of the influences I didn’t think it was possible to still come across music that completely stopped me in my tracks. I just hope she hasn’t peaked to soon!

You’re welcome! I’m pleased others are liking it too. So different to Holy Roar’s other acts.

Lucky / Exit Music is a great shout. Spot on for Terrible Friends in particular.

They are unlikely to win any new fans over with it, but it follows the format of their last few albums - a mix of quirky short tracks, electronic bits, a couple of introspective numbers all with a few of their trademark upbeat rockers scattered around. As such, if you like their sound you will probably enjoy this :+1:

I’m enjoying the new Blood Red Shoes but also it does sound a lot like Royal Blood so I’m not sure if it’s wildly out of step with current tastes. I’m guessing it is.

I like the new album and saw them live earlier. Great fun live. Maybe too much leather on stage, a bit Leather Tuscadero, but a great album and set otherwise.

Yeah I’m listening now. Didn’t Fidlar used to sound a lot like Metz? This feels like that whole late 90s/early 00s mainstream ‘alternative’ rock sound, like Smash Mouth and Spacehog to me.
