Dying to hear your take on the Puppy album. I’ve had it for a couple of months now and it’s a real grower; I was really disappointed at first but once I accepted what it’s going for I settled on 'good, could do with losing a couple of songs. I miss the overt Weezerisms of the first EP but they’d have sat pretty strangely next to the devil-horn riffs here I think

as for BMTH, it’s simultaneously the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard in ages and also the first album of theirs I’ve actually enjoyed

I hate to say it, but Swervedriver is pretty underwhelming on first listen.

Lunchtime shopping trip - seeing both these guys next Friday…

Yes, I still follow The Dandy Warhols in 2019 - what of it?

Had no idea this was out - have loved the singles.

Beautiful, strangely intimate and shimmering EP out today via Holy Roar. Yes, Holy Roar.

Another vote / mention for Press Club from me. Was looking forward to this and it didn’t disappoint - retro garage punk vibe with female vocals (FFO maybe Japandroids and/or Sleater Kinney)

Also enjoying MONO - drivers what you’d expect from them but darker and more angsty than some of their back catalogue

This is so good. Holy Roar have been on such an amazing roll for the last year :open_mouth:

Agreed. Nothing really stands out, and everything seems to be the same tempo. Perhaps it’s a grower

They’ve kinda always been a bit underwhelming though. I’ve added to my listen later playlist

They have indeed. A A Williams has a different sound to the rest of the roster, but somehow the haunting darkness of her songs fits. Love the way they build from initimate beginnings.

Quite a few things I’m interested in today:
FIDLAR - just listened to it, kind of odd ,sounds like they’re having a bit of an identity crisis. There’s some good songs on there but a bit all over the place. Like it’s songs from a ton of different sessions , like demolition by Ryan Adams.

Mike Krol - mentioned above . Only discovered him a few weeks ago, liked the previous stuff, so interested in this.

Dandy Warhols - usually like a song or two per album by them so will check out.

And of course the Teal album!

Nils Frahm has an EP out, which is lovely on first listens. ‘All Melody’ didn’t click for me but this is more along the lines of ‘solo’ with maybe an Eno ambience.

Never really got the hate for Mono. Get that it can be repetitive, but if it’s done well, it’s great.

Anyway back to the thread. Dude York have just released a surprise EP. It’s pretty good.

I’d say the first two albums are pretty great, but they start to get a bit patchy thereafter
