I left early but the traffic was much worse so I’m home at more or less my usual time. Done myself.

I suppose. To be honest I always thought I was the weird one here as I have a peculiar dislike of being surprised by unexpected sounds and phone calls always came under that. I suppose I view my phone as a way for people to notify me that they’d like to talk to me rather than me feeling obliged to immediately answer them.

I mean having your phone on loud as default

If you’re expecting a very important urgent call: ok
If you’re at home and leave it lying around: ok
If you’re anyway impaired and it helps: ok

If you just have it on loud ring all the time at the office, restaurants and in public there is really no need anymore and just seems really selfish?

Oh I see what you mean, yeah that’s a bit off but don’t think I’ve ever been especially disturbed by a ringing noise except in cinemas.
