Had my Beeb assessment today. I was solid but unspectacular in the first 2 assessments but absolutely destroyed my story pitch. the interviewers were visibly very impressed by the effort and preparation that had gone into it (got the impression that I approached the task in a way that other people hadn’t), said it was excellent and that it was so thorough they had no questions to ask about it. so relieved because when i’ve not been at work over the last fortnight, i’ve been working on this… seeking out contacts, making my own graphics, reading books and fine-tuning the details. i’m absolutely dead from all the late nights recently (only got about 3 hours’ sleep last night) and the crippling self-doubt that they might not think it was an interesting or relevant story.
…but I don’t think it’ll be enough to get me one of the places? Even though i did super well to make the last 60 out of over 3000 applicants, i’m going to be devastated if i get the rejection email next week. working on this pitch has been the only thing distracting me from feeling lousy.
