Oh man. I was so close to completing this. I sent off the sheet for the last 30 or so and was so excited when the Merlin envelope turned up one morning before school. Went off for the day happy, knowing I’d get to put them in when I got back.
All going well when I came to do it, until West Ham. I had Lee Chapman in my hand, great, but Lee Chapman already in the album. Confused / frantic check to see if I’d requested the wrong number - no. Merlin must have wronged me here. Counted through all the sticker spaces in the album to double check, and he was in the wrong place wasn’t he. I’d fucked it. Tried again the following season but I was way off.
Did organically complete one the other year out of nostalgia, but it’s really not the same when you’re not limited to the four or eight packs your mum’ll buy you a week.
Legitimate case for a lawsuit, this. I went and queued for hours at Exeter Westpoint at an official swap event to complete this.
Never heard it.
I prefer the lo fi version before they introduced shiny stickers.
