The world was a much simpler place when Ja Rule and Ashanti were in the charts. Might go and listen to some now.

There’s a good short documentary doing the rounds on 50cent and ja rules longtime beefing

That recent story of him buying out 200 seats at a Ja Rule gig :grinning: It’s a dickhead thing to do but made me chuckle.

I’m still totally outraged that one of them, after seeing the chaos and shit they were in, said ā€œwe didn’t want any neighbours so we trashed the tents and pissed on the mattressesā€ and filmed themselves doing it and laughing.

He deserves to be ripped off a billion times.

Said it on the other thread, but still don’t understand why any blame can be pointed at the models, people literally paid to look good to help sell things. They were paid to do their job, which they did, well ahead of the horrors unfolding.

There is the thing about not making it clear it was advertising on their tweets, but that doesn’t seem to be the bit people are focussing on.

Maybe they should make sure the thing there being paid handsomely to endorse isn’t scamming ppl, I am sure they are discerning about how there image is used in other parts of there career. ( I know this situation isn’t as straight forward as a normal product but none of them seem particularly sympathetic)

ā€œMy client Emily has requested that you don’t send over her fee until we have checked that the festival is a total success. Thanksā€

So watched the Hulu one. Annoying reliance on using stock footage and clips from us TV shows. Otherwise more informative than the Netflix but not as enjoyable.

Think it needs to be said again that most of the tickets bought were just $500, so the narrative of ā€˜dumb rich kids’ doesn’t really apply. $500 for flights + accommodation + music in the Bahamas sounds pretty sweet tbh

Yeah, that’s not much more than Glasto tickets, and while I’d categorise most Glasto goers as middle class, I wouldn’t say they were all rich.

So you think they should be able to endorse or encourage anything with no consequence?

Nah advertising through influencers on instagram is still adversing

Yeah both docs seem hell bent on putting some narrative about the influencers and rich people that might not strictly exist.

Hulu doc briefly touched on how the Bahamas offers beautiful luxury resorts amongst loads of poverty which seems like a more interesting topic to me.

I don’t think it would have been all that good of a party tbh.

Maybe Fyre Festival was the influencers we met along the way

Kinda. There was an example in the film from a filmmaker along the lines of ā€œif you make an advert for BMW then it turns out the brakes don’t work, it’s not your faultā€

It wasn’t quite that, but I agree with the point.
