This was my exact experience with Absolum. Had a bunch of failed and middling runs, then something clicked and I breezed through all the bosses and rolled the end credits. Only played with one character and have no real desire to try runs with any of the others. Still enjoyed my brief time with the game though.
Outer Worlds 2
Finally completed this yesterday. I decided to complete the first one after Iād worked through the Mass Effect trilogy earlier this year (I thought it might be an interesting segue but in hindsight Iām not sure it quite worked) and figured I might as well do the sequel next. Iāve discussed it a bit in the other thread but while I thought the plot was interesting and the locations unique, overall the experience was pretty mid and the story nowhere near as clever as they thought it was. I was glad to get it over and done with in the end. 6.5/10
Next up is Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
also just cause itās too hot and Iām clinging onto my special interests for dear life, the coolest thing about wherever Deltarune is going is that a lot of it seems to have been planned pre-Undertale

Red Light means go.
Upfront about this - I had to put on god mode for this game. It gets stupidly hard at times and if I hadnāt Iād have never seen it through.
Though at times I wondered if I was even enjoying it.
Basically, it is three game types mashed into one - first person shooter, bullet hell, and platformer with mild puzzles. The middle part of that mix was hard has hell, and the third part miss guided. I think it needed a much better view - you kind of need to know your hit box in those types of games.
The gameplay was a slog towards the end mind. The game added a load of traversal moves that seemed cool, but at times weāre just wholly frustrating. First person platforming is never good and this tries a few interesting ideas that simply donāt really gel. The boss rooms, like Doom, weāre also very irritating - one last 20 minutes! I donāt need to keep fighting the same lads over and over again.
And then the bosses holy shit. Hard has hell, frustrated me, and felt unfair at times. The toolkit wasnāt great. Add tk that upgrades to the weapons that you have to find down odd paths⦠It just left me a little annoyed.
The story is pretty odd too. Not really good and delivered by endless fucking dreadful voice acting. I just didnāt like it.
It was, for the first three hours, pretty fucking great! And then it became a slog of similar environments, puzzles, rank boss rush rooms, and terribly unforgivable platforming, and it just didnāt quite do it for me.
