Played a few fun indie titles on my lunch break.

The Haunted Island, a Frog Detective game - fun little game with writing that reminded me of Donut County (which either sound great or horrible to you). It was about 30-40 mins to play through, very much just talking and trading items, but with some funny dialogue. It was a fun lil time, recommend it if you are into this kind of thing!

A Short Hike - only played this for about 20 minutes, but it is super charming! It feels good to control your bird character, with some interesting mechanical bits as a surprise as I explored. Has some light BotW climbing mechanics and the music and writing reminded me of Animal Crossing too. Looking forward to exploring a bit more tonight!

Got a flashcard for my 3DS! Ordered it a month ago and it arrived yesterday with no warning.

It’s like the good old wild west days of the DS, when the file system was wide open and you could download anything. The 3DS runs DS carts natively, so you just chuck some ROMs of games you already own (@safetywink) on there and away you go.

Got the two DS Zelda games (Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks), Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Chrono Trigger (yes m8) and Dragonball Z: Attack of the Saiyans (why not). All seems to be working fine, scenes are amazing

Turns out Death Stranding isn’t PS4 exclusive, though it is console exclusive, it’ll be coming out on PC as well (but not at launch)

Joined an ‘expedition’ in Elite so will be flying to the centre of the galaxy along with a few hundred others over the course of three months. I’m in too deep now, might as well get a HOTAS and all.

Hot take incoming? I love DMC 3 and 4. Think DmC was unfairly torn apart by a passionate fanbase and after DMC 5 came out to glowing reviews I was eager to pick it up as soon as it went on sale and welllll. I thought it was a pretty boring game, samey environments, dull enemies, unfulfilling ending and the combat just felt stilted in a way I really didn’t expect. I honestly don’t understand where the praise come from other than some sort of collective protest to make sure Capcom never let a western team take on DMC again. DMC 5 is the biggest disappointment I’ve had all year. It wasn’t even as silly as I thought it was going to be :frowning:

Chrono Trigger is really nice - bit dated obvs, but gets the story across in a really efficient, game-oriented way. Fun to see the ancestors of gameplay UI like cooldown bars in there!

Dragonball Z: Attack of the Saiyans is surprisingly good fun as well - another JRPG, from Monolith Soft, who made Xenoblade Chronicles after this one! Liked the anime, having fun with the characters here. Yamcha has the lowest luck stat, lol
