I’ve played all three but not in a long while, I’ll probably pick up the collection when it goes on sale. Like you said about Alien Isolation… not a very summery game. But then neither is Dark Souls I guess…

I’d forgotten Outer Worlds is out this week. I’m going to wait for reviews, if the port turns out to be bad think I’ll get the first Borderlands.

Ryu in Smash 4 felt absolutely amazing - they didn’t just add the character, they brought in his control system as well (qcf+attack for hadoken etc). Doing special moves the old way makes them stronger, so he can play like he ‘used to’ and you get rewarded for the the muscle memory!

Even has light/medium/heavy normals depending on how long you press the attack button

Haven’t played Ultimate, but I gather Terry plays similarly. Adding characters from other fighting games is the biggest challenge, as you already know how they ‘should’ play, whereas nobody has a clue about the piranha plant, so however they make that character is fine

Yeah just that and all the BioShock(s) dlc really. Sure I’m missing some others but can’t really think

Edit: and the second bit of DS3 DLC, obviously

I think Mass Effect was supposed to be good for that stuff. And Destiny?

Oohh yes that dlc in the first destiny was properly good. Miss online gaming with pals on things like that / halo 3 etc.

Finally finished Super Metroid! Equal parts amazing and infuriating, I’d say. Love the free exploration, and the sudden boosts in mobility you get with new items. Love the way there’s hidden stuff all over the place too.

But - some of the stuff is waaaay too hidden, and not just extra items and that. At least twice you have to shoot an innocuous destructible block with a certain weapon to find the way to proceed (that sodding lift room in Norfair in particular, before you even get the X-Ray Scope). You get a way to find blastable blocks, but that doesn’t always work!

If you were a kid with infinite time and patience, then maybe you’d get through, but some of it felt way too obtuse to me. Some bits were amazing (Wrecked Ship), others horrific (Maridia). Anything involving wall jumps made me very glad to have save states!

But - when it worked it was great. Space jumping and grappling around was top fun, good boss fights, great panic ending. Told a good story with almost no words at all.

Might try Zero Mission or Fusion next :+1:

My thoughts exactly too. Can see why people love it so much and how it nailed so many awesome things years ahead of it’s time. Can also see why its infuriating and needs spamming of save states to beat in 2020.

Yeah this mirrors my own experience. Absolutely loved it but no idea how some people coped without a guide.

Really enjoyed both Fusion and Zero Mission too, Fusion is a lot more linear if the exploration got to you.

Have you all heard the crazy rumours about SEGA?

It started with a Famitsu journalist saying there was a huge scoop coming this week. He mentioned SEGA initially and then it got taken back:

Now people are building on that story pointing out that Microsoft led their Event recently with Yakuza games coming to the platform, and people started talking about how SEGA and Microsoft have done a deal where the Xbox will no longer be sold in Japan, but rebranded and repurposed as a new SEGA machine.

This article builds on why this does / doesn’t make sense:

Could all be bollocks. But it’s interesting.

I loved the exploration, until you get stuck and just have to shoot missiles at random walls and hope you find a path!

Oh yeah, the Spazer, great weapon, hidden behind a single block in the ceiling that looks like all the others around it, just above a door where you’re not looking for paths ffs

Really enjoyed it overall, but without guides and save states I’d still be trying to get out of my ship

absolutely agree with this

Mass Effect 3 had a stellar piece of DLC which was basically a housewarming party. I loved it

Ryu and Ken play like street fighter, albeit quicker, with higher jumps and additional moves.

OK about 6 hours in now and I think this is my favourite game ever? My face is just beaming with joy on every swing and the pinballing combat is so satisfying that I’m aching to get in to every fight I can.

Even the Ubisofty stuff with the towers and backpacks isn’t annoying. And the polish on it, especially having just completed Fallen Order (a buggy mess), is a wonder to behold. It’s perfect.

Just got excited in the first article at the mention of a Dreamcast 2 - even though they were dismissing the idea, and even though I wouldn’t actually want to buy one, it still got me excited!

As for dlc, not sure how many games I’ve bought that have had dlc released after. The Celeste dlc was amazing, especially as it was free. Totally would have paid money for it. Overcooked 2, Wargroove, and Mario Rabbids dlc has also been fun, mainly just because I wanted to keep playing them all.

I finally managed to install cod war zone and it’s 24 separate 56teraflop updates.

Did the training, played one match, died within literally 5 seconds, died within 3 seconds in the gulag. I’m way too old for this. How do you know when your team are gonna jump out the plane?

I would *love * to play bf2:bc Vietnam again though. Love it.

The ps5 stream has been postponed due to the current situation In america

To my great shame, I have been watching a lot of a streamer playing Warzone (a guy called stonemountain64 - I think Facebook suggested his video for some reason and I got hooked). It’s very relaxing in a weird way, he’s so incredibly competent at it, especially with a team, they all talk like proper soliders (pushing on my 3, knocked one left, dropping plates!) so I think communication is key. God knows how many hours they must have played it though, it’s a huge map and they know every fucking window and tree. And they still lose sometimes!
