Control is free on Epic Games then. I redownloaded the launcher to claim it then they gave me a £10 voucher just for coming back, then told me Tony Hawks was on sale. They finally got me.

I was intending on getting in on the ground level with Elden Ring, having given all the Sedarkborne games a hard pass. But in the trailer it… just looks like more Dark Souls, doesn’t it. To an almost comical degree. Not exactly boarding the hype train here.

Dark Souls but fully open world is enough for me. They’ll have to make adjustments for it to work but they’d be fools to stray to far from that formula. I’m a little surprised they stuck with such a similar dark fantasy aesthetic but I get the feeling that’s Miyazaki’s happy place, he just doesn’t really like to do sequels.

All of the unique games are 10/10.

Dark Souls 10/10.
Bloodborne 10/10.
Sekiro 10/10.

Only with the DS sequels do they fall very slightly away (and that is slight but they do lose something).

Fully expecting ER to be 10/10.

Cannot fully comment on Demons Souls as I have an played through the first third or so of it on PS3 and I’m waiting to start again on the PS5 when that day arrives for me (not yet).

Like if Paradox announced that Stellaris 2 was going to be a multiplayer battle royale shooter set in the same universe, you wouldn’t be thrilled, right? From have their niche and nobody does their style better, that’s all us fanboys want.

Also I need to figure out if any of the 17 bits of Stellaris DLC I’m missing are worth getting.
