I remember being properly blown away by the demo, spent hours killing zombies, and then enjoying the full game even more. It was one of the first rogue-likes I played I think.
Loved the fact that the world did it’s thing whether you were present or not, felt really quite different to most games where NPCs stood around waiting for you to trigger them. Also loved how silly it was, cutscenes with a dress and servbot helmet never failed to be amusing.
I remember getting my first job and saving for a few months to buy a 360 and one of those (now tiny) white Samsung TVs they were using to demo the console in GAME etc. It felt amazing. Dead Rising was the first game I bought I think, had so much fun with it.
Lost Planet was another early 360-era Capcom game I have fond memories of.
I might need to stop playing Balatro/try and have a break, but will see how that goes! 215 hours now.
Just realised that I had already reached the 50 planet card voucher at some point - I’ve been constantly buying planet cards for ages.
Four decks completed on the hardest difficulty now - the last one took quite a while/many attempts.
Wonder if I can play a different non-Balatro game…
Just put together an 18-win streak and ended up on gold 3 with Chun Li. Easily the best run I have ever had on any computer game (or, you know, life in general). Even my partner was engrossed by the end. Lost eventually to another Chun Li who knew how to counter my BS cross-up game.
Enjoying my current playthrough of The Longest Journey - though sometimes I’ll sit down to play it and find myself kind of wishing the dialogue would be reined in a leeeettle bit. You enter a new area and pretty much the completionist in me has to ask everyone about their entire life stories.
Couple of absolute classic total pisstake puzzles in true adventure game fashion so far:
Had to look up a guide to find out there was a tiny valve I had to turn after fixing a water pressure thingy.
Creating a sort of grappling hook out of a clothes line, a clamp, and an inflatable duck.
Having to use the same dialogue option twice in order to find out a guy’s nickname so the map salesman would know who I was talking
For ages we’ve leached off my father in laws account but have finally got our own. Our package means we can download to two different devices, which will probably be our kid’s tablets, but do games count as part of that limit? Do you have to download them to play them or is it like a live streaming thing?
So, did anyone else get to the final boss of Quantum Break and give up? It might be the worst boss in any game I’ve ever played.
Literally an hour spent tonight on 16 attempts. And I am going to youtube the ending and count it as complete, fucking hell.
Also, apparently there is a levelling system and skill tree or something in the game, but I’ve never once got any XP or whatever to spend, which is very funny.
If it had ended on a better note, but considering this it is a really sour taste.
