What are you nerds playing right now then?

A day late but I am going to be starting my D&D style ā€œSouls of Sarakuā€ Quest calendar today. Got to create my character and do the first two days today.

currently playing:

metaphor refantazio, just got the final boss to beat so will probs finish it this weekend. dunno if i can be arsed to new game plus it
astrobot, good game but those mini levels where you have to do it all in one go are v annoying
hades 2, have beaten both the big lads a few times so just another 600 or so to go
monster train 2, have won one run but it’s gotten pushed onto the back burner a bit by hades

It was a KickStarter I backed last year but you can get digital / physical version still here:

Each day you get a bit of the story and are faced with decisions to make, enemies to battle or events to overcome. To start with I the game makes you play through a sample of the ā€œvillansā€ you can be before you pick who you want to be (or create your own character) to play through the remaining year.

These two were my big hitters for '25, MT2 is worth sticking with (and skipping through its extremely silly cut scenes).

Just wrapping up Dino Crisis rn. Thought I was near the end last night but there’s a really shit puzzle bit that takes ages.

because I am always on the cutting edge of gaming, I am playing Hades. think I’ve done your big man five or six times now, trying to tick off the only weapon I’ve not done it with so far (the shield) but keep messing it up. next time though…

Currently playing Alien: Isolation on Switch, mostly handheld with headphones, and it’s freaking me the fuck out. Having to alternate with Dicey Dungeons for when I need some colour (and for my heart rate to go down)

Parse, is this the computer gaming thread or the physical ā€œIRLā€ board gaming etc thread?

That was the last new game that genuinely scared me.

Dino Crisis done.

Now, on to Dispatch or Cronos next.

Feel like I’m making up for barely playing anything last year.

I have started Red Dead. So far it’s just the usual GTA structure of lovely landscapes and decent acting, punctuated with driving for miles whilst someone talks at you. But I’ll stick with it for now

Also got my retro gaming study up and running over the break. Sadly realised that a huge amount of my game cases are empty where I’ve lent games out and they’re long gone.

A few games haven’t cost me much to replace the discs for (WipEout 2097 was Ā£12, FF7 Ā£13) but Wip3out Special Edition now seems to go for about Ā£100+ :exploding_head:

Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Dragon Quest IX
(want to pick up Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth again but I’m already confused by this many dragons)
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Metroid Prime
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky (PSP version, not the recent remake)
Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse (better metroidvania than Silksong)

Yes I have been diagnosed with ADHD, thank you for asking.

Currently playing: Expedition 33 on the Big PC, Hades II on the Steam deck. E33 is at an awkward ā€˜haven’t played in a few weeks, probably forgot everything’ stage. Hades II I’m struggling to find a rhythm with the way I did with the first one. I’m piecing it together slowly but Hades I just clicked straight away. Not sure if it’s the way early progress is gated or that none of the boons seem immediately broken. It’s definitely not me though. I’ve still got it. Definitely.

Also got Norco on the go but struggling to push myself to play purely narrative stuff for some reason. Maybe I just crave violence.

Restarted FFVII, playing a few hours of FH5 a week and that’s it.

I could lie to myself and say I’ll pick up BOTW again but I didn’t like it so I won’t be doing that.

This Post Paid For By PROF$.

Played through Control recently, which was quite good fun. Absolute nonsense obviously and the main story just sort of stops, but it was entertaining.

Tried Cyberpunk and sacked it off after about 10 hours. The gameplay felt really clunky, the voice acting was terrible, and first person games need to be really great to grab me, because they tend to do my head in for reasons I’ve never quite been able to put my finger on. (Goldeneye with mates around a console being the obvious exception to this).

Currently playing Dragon Age: The Veilguard due to @Epimer casually throwing out comparisons to Mass Effect 2. The acting is absolute garbage and it’s quite linear at the moment but generally it seems fine so far. Nice to see a few old Dragon Age characters turn up too.

Might pick up Baldur’s Gate 3 for when I’m done with Dragon Age.

TimeSplitters: Future Perfect splitscreen… damn
