Gaming Trophies / Achievements

Do you care? Do you aim for platinums? Is it part of the experience for you? Or do you not give a fuck

I just completed the plat for Forza Horizon 5 and I feel good. It’s not an essential part of gaming for me but if I’m enjoying a game and still playing after I’ve finished the story, I do tend to try for it so there’s something new to aim for.

I’ve also got plats in Balatro, Rocket League, Spiderman, Fall Guys, a few Far Crys, FFVII… 18 in total. Balatro is the only one that I feel some actual achievement for, cos fuck me it was hard.

nah I don’t care about that, though I do have a spreadsheet that I fill in when I finish a game, it’s nice, I enjoy completing games but I prefer to do it on my terms, sometimes do nearly everything sometimes just mainline

Depends if there’s a fun achievement to do tbh. I ain’t doing the whole get em all thing tho.

Some games like paradox games have the achievements tied in to fun challenges. Like, I got one called ā€˜Brexit’ for causing the breakup of the UK as communist Iceland in Hearts of Iron IV. That was good.

I’m missing three from Stardew Valley, two of which I’m never going to complete because they involve getting a really high score on a mini game that I do not enjoy playing at all

I have played PlayStation fairly consistently for my entire life and the fact I don’t have a single platinum is a significant point of shame in my life.

I got quite into chasing it for THPS1+2 during the pandemic but don’t think I got that close in the end.

I think I got the Xbox equivalent for Halo 3 though.

No interest. Too many games to play although that’s a total cheek given the hundreds of hours I’ve lost to elden ring.

I cared back in my Xbox 360 days when I had a limit of games, free time and youth on my side. If I finished a game but couldn’t afford another one yet then I tried to clear the achievements.

These days Gamepass gives me a choice of too many games that the achievements feel a bit more meaningless

Couldn’t care less.

Just ā€œfinishedā€ Sea of Stars, credits rolled, lovely. Except the ā€œtrue endingā€ is gated behind a bunch of extra steps, including collecting a bunch of tedious shit across the game. If you do all of it, you get a final twist in the story, a different boss fight and a different Final Cut scene.

I just watched it on YouTube. Bullshit!

As a player : can’t be arsed with them.

Really liked getting to 100% stuff back in my main uni gaming days - Assassins Creed, Red Dead, Braid etc

Not done it since though

I generally don’t worry about trophies unless I really love the game and so will be spending as much time as possible playing it. I’ve platinumed a few of the SoulsBorne games but that because I tend to do multiple runs through those game so I find it’s nice to add some additional aims to those playthroughs.
