Don’t think I’ve been vague, the specific problem is the mixes sound adequate at moderate volume but terrible when cranked up. It’s the same track being played back so those problem frequencies must still be there but less perceived at lower volume, that could be explained as human ears have much flatter frequency response at higher volumes relatively boosting things that are masked at lower volumes, if this isn’t a common problem maybe I just monitor things at much lower volumes than most

very nice

but… a matching shell pink headstock and a cream scratchplate to match the witch hats & pickup covers please

I guess they want to maximise the rosewood factor, looks a lot better in person than pictures I’d seen, I like how the logo is etched into it, I like the tort guard think it goes well with the dark neck. Tort in general is so variable, must have the worst quality control of anything being produced, can look hideous, this one looked good

you’re losing a lot of resolution and bit depth by mixing/record/exporting with such low levels. When you boost the volume later you’re also boosting all the noise and because of the crappy bit depth your mix will sound terrible

there’s a bit on the Steinberg video I posted to you up there^where he talks about gain staging (around 10 minutes in I think) watch that a few times & take his tips about using a reference kick and a reference track

and ditch your master buss limiter until you’ve got a handle on the rest

that’s my advice

that one about not making individual instruments sound as good as they can but rather make things sound good together is useful, my approach has been to try and get the guitars on their own to sound as good as possible and go from there, probably are things competing for space

yep

sounds like you’re making a bunch of small errors that add up to a greater problem at the end point and then you’re applying a ‘fix’ there which only makes it worse

strip down, start from the beginning and take it step by step is the sensible approach

Niiiiice.

This looks good too. The small keyboard would probably drive me up the wall though.

I tried to watch the Jupiter-X video this morning and had to turn it off after 30 secs, the music was terrible

had a whole rant to my TV about it

I’m sure the synth is fine though

Have learnt a lot from this thread
:+1:

I HAVE LEARNED NOTHING but useful tips on improving my mixes.

I’m still on the fence as to whether it’s useful!

Be interesting to see whatever the behringer clone is priced at now there is a price pint to aim for.

Paid a guy £100 to disconnect a couple of LEDs in a footswitch.

Were they mega bright? I swear the recent EQD ones are trying to blind people, reckon you could see the white LED in my Westwood from space.

Apparently my marshall footswitch doesnt work with my marshall amp while the LEDs are on. :no_mouth:

That’s a feature.

wtf

and that cost £100? I’d have done it for £95

60/hr and of course he thought ‘while i’m fixing the switch, i’ll just replace a valve for a laugh’

they sound like an absolute joker.
