It appears that Geordie of Killing Joke has passed away. I only saw him perform once with Murder Inc.
Very sad news!
Oh man that’s terrible news ![]()
Only got into Killing Joke relatively recently but even as recently as Pylons was still sounding huge
One of my favourite guitar sounds on this, expansive and other wordly and sinister all at once
RIP
Sad news. I’ve loved Killing Joke for years but only got to see them once last year in Leeds. Gonna be listening to a few albums today in tribute.
Edit: bloody memory, I just remembered I actually saw them in 2015 first and then last year! ![]()
Was just dancing round to this in the pub on Friday night.
Game changing band! Largely down to the guitar sound. RIP.
Got to see them a few times, great great guitarist.
One of my favourite straight up metal riffs
Ah no! That is so sad. My old boss was a roadie for Killing Joke in a previous life, so we used to do quite a bit of design work for them around the time 10 came out. ‘Characters’ doesn’t even begin to sum them up, Geordie in particular.
Had always assumed that their music wasn’t for me, but was given their entire back catalogue on CD and loved pretty much all of it.
RIP.
Keep forgetting how good Killing Joke are
oh man, gutted about this. one of my all time favourite guitar players, not a week goes by that i don’t listen to Killing Joke. So glad that i finally got to see them live last year. Geordie was mesmerizing.
Amazing guitarist and a heck of a character. RIP.
Remember the first time I heard Walking With Gods and that meteoric, metronomic riff that carries the whole thing along like the unstoppable coming of oblivion. Utterly breathless.
some of my desert island riffs…
‘Pssyche’. Not so much a riff as an aural trepanning
One of the strangest, most otherworldly rock songs ever recorded.

Monstrous guitar sound from Geordie on the opening track in this set, ‘The Hum’. He’s impossibly cool in this clip too, it has to be said. Like a greek god nonchalantly unleashing terror…
Amazingly realised guitar sound and style. So unique that it’s almost impossible to draw from without sounding like a lame imitation.
Sad.
