I left the room pretty quickly when estranger started. Sorry.
If I saw a band where everyone had a Helix LT I’d leave too.

That’s it, you’re off the VIP list.
Line 6 > boss
Last gig I went to, Agriculture, was pleased to see a Helix LT on stage
I’ve still not tried using my Kemper without a cab onstage as presumably these Helix users do? I don’t reckon I ever will; the thought of not having the standard speaker/strings interplay freaks me out. I’ve done quite a few gigs using the DI out rather than miking the cab, but the cab is always running set to LOUD on the stage.
I’ve seen a band at a small venue (like I play) using all modellers/no cabs and I thought it was visually a bit weird, but is sounded OK. I thought it would have sounded better with some volume coming from the backing though…
Feel like this has always been true but at least Boss do pedals you only needed to sell one kidney to afford when you were a teenager
And they never break! Looking at the Line 6 DL4 piece of shit in particular.

Also every Line 6 amp I’ve ever used has been such a pile of steaming dogshit. Awful stuff.

TBF I would never buy their amps. It’s pedals they do good
a conversation between people who never felt the thrill of pressing the INSANE button on their line6 spider at the age of 15
sad to see
The only true artform left in this god forsaken world
They are pretty comparable price wise, boss haven’t gone in as much on the modellers but reckon their gt 1000 is their knock off helix LT and similar ball park price, single pedals L6 probably cheaper
While the helix stuff is expensive, the amount of free updates I’ve had over the years has made it pretty good value, it’s like getting brand new Amos and pedals to play with a few times a year.
Boss are great, but think L6 are tge Boss of today
Man, the stuff I recorded with @Badgerdeluxe ‘s original pod! People who be dissing Line 6 have no idea what came before.
I was meaning more back in the 90s. The Line 6 stuff was chunky and in the 200+ range that I recall whereas only the DD5/6 was truly bank breaking from Boss
Line 6 had the chunky modellers like the green delay, but also had the tone core pedals which were just single pedals. Not sure what they were up to in the 90s only on my radar from the noughties
You can just get an frfr speaker that looks like a cab, like the fender tone master, or line 6 power cab.
I’ve never played live, in the unlikely event I do I would use my patent pending threading a headphone lead through the centre a coily guitar cable
Yeah, I use a 2x12 cab with Celestion ‘live-response’ speakers when I’m using my Kemper. What I meant was relying on PA/monitors vs cab/backline.
I’ve got a keyboard now
Thinking of getting a new amp for live stuff
My current live set is
- Slow burn ambient one
- wannabe American primitive one that goes post rock
- Bill Fay cover
