I’m playing my very first gig on the drums in a couple of weeks and I’m feeling pretty great about it. Our band is sounding great, really feel like we’ve slipped into a great sound over the last few practices, and I’m feeling super relaxed behind the kit. Been playing 3 years but hadn’t played with others until the start of this year. Feels really good!!
Although I did get a very nice new (to me) Dream crash the other day, and now my other cymbals sound bad to me, this is going to get expensive

I tell you what, I sold a lovely sounding/looking vintage Zildjian ride vaguely recently, and was disappointed by the prices (given the sound/quality). Worth keeping an eye out if you’re upgrading your cymbals! Probably wouldn’t buy a vintage crash for obvious crack-related reasons.

Anyone know anything about lutes?
Saw this video and now I want one. Not sure if this person is just the best lute player in the world or whether something a little bit like this might be achievable in the fullness of time

yesterday I realised the key to sweep picking is just to pretend to sweep pick, can only do it downwards though
