Wahey!

I’d forgotten the tickets were out today, cheers for the reminder

what’s the empire like as a venue?

It’s really nice! Feels more appropriate to see them in a sweaty basement really, but it’s a beautiful room:

Only downside is the bar being down the side means people are constantly pushing past you to get to it during busy gigs, but there’s a raised bit with seats on the opposite side if you want to avoid that

What’s wrong with Sheffield then

Yeah, easy to take it for granted when it’s on your doorstep but a lot of the acts playing will comment on how nice it is, I remember Lankum being very complimentary

lovely looking venue

Saw Low in here once and there was a woman sitting up in the balcony knitting

i figured i’ll bump into you at the manchester gig, so bumping into twice in the space of 4 months seems a bit much.

haven’t ruled it out, going back and forth with the girlfriend about it.

Yeah, it’s really nice. We’ve got the Pavilion here (saw Gilla Band there once, awful crowd) that fits a similar niche. Doesn’t do many shows after re-opening under different ownership but I’ve seen some amazing stuff here over the years (and played it too.)

It’s actually a decent enough size, that photo is taken from the top level and there’s a big dancefloor in front of the stage. Saw Roy Ayers there, the Pharcyde, O Emperor and loads more.

Ahh, heard of the Pavilion but never seen inside, that looks lovely

Saw Gilla Band last night in Cleveland. Pretty small show probably 150 people there, but they were absolutely brilliant. Anyone who hasn’t seen them and is on the fence , go for it.

Their sound is so visceral live. The sounds and pure force they create is something. Alan’s guitar sounds like a rocket taking off. Even songs I’m not a huge fan of on record , looking at you Shoulderblades , sounded immense. Really great gig.

Finally got this framed. Bought this at their Cork gig a few years ago that I attended with DiS hero @Kallgeese :slightly_smiling_face:
