i’ve googled it and i was talking out my arse.
Thought as much
This sandwich was the absolute champ! So angry it’s gone. My personal baked good treat of choice was and will always be an apple danish, trellis or turnover.
@keith our kid used to call them ‘breadmen’
There’s that famous gingerbread shop in Grasmere, I was hearing about it all day from the TV when we were up there. She was giving it the Ooh its the best gingerbread you’ve ever had and all that. Get there and there’s a queue of about 20 mugs patiently waiting for their gingerbread. And was it delicious? The best gingerbread you’ve ever tasted? You ask? actually yeah it was pretty nice m8s
My mum used to work in Coughlans bakery when I was a kid. They often had leftovers staff could take home. Good times.

Is meat and potato standard? Certainly was when I were a lad up north
meat and potato pie when in Liverpool visiting fam over everything, but they don’t seem to be a thing outside Merseyside.

Yup
Donut as a kid, but now it’s Danishes until I die.
some are very nice, some are disappointing
gingerbread bats with chocolate on the wings at Halloween
or an egg custard
cheese and onion, but reluctantly because they were the only vegetarian option
two more thoughts:
apple turnovers, ooh
@profk and @Gnometorious are in here!!
Reckon gingerbread men are generally rated accurately, you don’t really see people going mad for them, they’re a 6/10 baked good and everyone’s basically on board with that
Ginger cake is also waaaay better than breadmen, but breadmen are nice still
This poll is a fucking disgrace.
That place is great, but the queues are a nightmare. Made a few lockdown orders from them, and warming a piece up in the oven is the perfect afternoon treat.
I have no time for an English egg custard but would happily eat the Portuguese [pasta del nata?] all day.
