crazy how most people think that making money is in itself something to be proud of and almost morally good.

Like it’s obviously the deeds/labour that capitalism has facilitated and motivate people towards that are actually good and helpful to ourselves and others and not the fucking money itself.

Old Holborn was whingeing about this. So you’re 100% wrong about who’s being Tory here.

We good socialists welcome the Stalinist intervention from the State, comrade.

To be fair, there are good reasons why people, of whatever age, shouldn’t be running businesses on the street, selling good and drink, without a licence and hygiene check, etc. But in a case such as this, it should have resulted in a piece of advice, a warning and an explanation of why. And that’s the end of it. Unless they then did it again. Am I being more sensible than most of my friends would consider to be my norm? Probably, yes…

It’s not like it’s a proper full on business, right?

I really think it is no different to a parking fine or something, if people are given warnings it opens up a whole load of administrative burden, administering warnings, keeping track of past warnings, verifying identity, opens them up to challenge from others who have been fined. A blanket approach is necessary for the system to work. Plus where is the line for full on business, that kid may have planned to work that stall all summer, could have. Even a quite lucrative unregulated racket

Alright, libertarian

You’re thinking of @plasticniki

This turned out better than any of us had any right to hope.

This stone cold banger

I love that this thread turned into a bewildering overreaction, when the matter up for discussion is a bewildering overreaction. People are funny.
