Someone talk about that latest episode. I don’t know what to think.

I don’t think they needed the penis bit, I think it was clear the guy was a dickhead and the stuff Hannah said (especially about her teacher at school) made the points about abuse of sexual power well enough that they didn’t need to make it 100% explicit at the end. Interesting episode though.

Yeah i find it a bit weird but then i feel like it’s this trap the writers have set so you’ll end up getting called a sexist/body shamer/etc if you mention it. Like i feel sorry for dunham sometimes cos there’s obviously some emotional demons running amok there that compel her to say and do this really embarrassing shit irl and in girls, and try to pretend its some grand statement of liberation when its obviously not. It’s just kinda depressing to watch sometimes.

I think that bit had a reason to exist: it was funny. I mean not everything in this episode was making a point, it’s a comedy and at the end she said, “Anyway, forget the heavy stuff, here’s the Girls equivalent of a big purple-veined dick joke”.

Apparently the track at the end was Rhianna, which makes the first song of hers I’ve heard that’s piqued my interest.

Well, that’s certainly a plot development.

One of those episodes Girls’ occasionally has where it isn’t bad but all of the plots feel a bit too separate from each other and the scenes don’t really link up.

  • Still, the Desi scene was fantastic.
  • I thought Ray’s subplot was a little too contrived but the acting was pretty good at the end there.
  • The pregnancy was a great reveal, and completely unexpected without feeling cheap.

Two deaths was pushing it a bit with Ray, but that bit at the end was brutal

Wasn’t sure if I liked that they brought back Patrick Wilson to reveal the pregnancy though

I quite liked it but I’m not really sure how to articulate why. I suppose because aside from the pregnancy reveal that’s how I expected that reunion to go. Also worked well as a bait and switch away from the pregnancy.

Hmm maybe the pregnancy reveal wouldn’t have had the same impact with just some random nurse but I liked One Man’s Trash being a standalone.

Quite a heavy episode, I’ve kind of felt like this season as a whole has been relatively serious/introspective. Curious to see what happens with the pregnancy Less interested to see what happens with Jessa and Adams idea.

Marnie was kind of awful in this episode, I know it was deliberate and I suspect Ray’s finally going to break up with her next episode but, it’s pretty tough to watch.

So happy when Ray finally broke up with Marnie, I presume him and Shoshanna are probably going to get back together? I could be up for that otherwise there so much to take in the episode almost felt too short, Adam and Jessa’s story line kind of shed some more light on his feelings towards Hannah, I previously thought after the conclusion of the last season he hated her but now I’m not so sure. Kind of wondering in whether the film will prompt some sort of reconciliation between Hannah, Adam and Jessa.

Otherwise some fairly grown up themes (loneliness, grief and sadness) which, I actually kind of liked.

Episode 6 - probably the weakest one of the season so far. Far too much boring Marnie stuff, though was funny seeing Hannah telling her she’d been a ‘horrible cunt’ to Ray

Hmm really can’t get onboard with all the Adam and Jessa meta filmmaking nonsense

Marnie’s really took her self-centered dickishness to a new level in this series.

They’re definitely spending too much time on it, I think it would work much better if it had just… less screentime.

Starting to think we’re going to get very little Shoshanna this season, which is a huge disappointment.

Was it stated either how much time had passed between Painful Evacuation and Gummies? Because it felt a bit odd how quickly Adam and Jessa had progressed with their movie… Either way, totally with you that if given less screentime especially without specific scene for scene recreation’s, the storyline could have been serviced better.

I think across the shows entire run, there has never been enough Shoshanna, she always gets weirdly sidelined. It’s certainly frustrating that her story arc (getting back together with Ray, surely?) seems to have been inevitable since the beginning of the season. Hopefully we’re proved wrong and she gets a really juicy storyline over the last four (!) episodes.

Can only be a week or two as Hannah is six weeks pregnant at the start of Gummies isn’t she? She’s reading that thing about how big the embryo is at six weeks. Or is that bit at the start of the latest episode?

Well I felt like she mentions being two months pregnant at one point but I watched Gummies and Full Disclosure back to back so it all blurred into one but yeah either way if it had only been like a week or two, Adam & Jessa really got their shit together quick!

Elijah’s dance audition had me in absolute stitches
